The Detroit Puddle of the Michigan Pond recently participated in two days of volunteering their time at the Detroit Goodfellows warehouse in Detroit packing holiday gift boxes filled with clothing, candy, books, toys and more for the children of Detroit, Highland Park, River Rouge and Hamtramck. The Members and friends boxed up 1100 gift boxes over the two days for the Detroit Goodfellows “No Kiddie without a Christmas” annual holiday campaign, a commitment since 1914. The goal of the Detroit Goodfellows this year is to provide holiday gift boxes to 35,000 children!

2016 presentation of the check
The Home Nest hosted another successful Casino Night at Bluemound Country Club on May 6th, 2016!  Recently, Dave Zauner and Kim Acheson proudly presented a $5200 check to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society-Wisconsin Chapter .
We had 86 fun loving, charitable people attend the event.  Funds to help support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society were raised through a  50/50 raffle and through the silent auction of prizes that were generously donated by so many organizations. There were over 35 prizes in all, so there was something to suit everyone’s taste!
The food was delicious, the weather beautiful and the casino fun went on for hours! Check out  photos of some of our ganders enjoying the evening with their favorite friends and family members on the Home Nest Facebook page.
A Big Thank you to Dave Zauner, the Casino Night Chair, and his entire committee who’s hard work and dedication to Casino Night made it the event to be at in Spring 2016!
In addition, without the support of these generous sponsors the Casino Night could not have been a success. A Big Thank you to:

BG CHARITY RECAP

Dan Rich took the time to go into his archives and compiled this report summarizing the Hartford Pond’s charitable endeavors from 2005-2015.  Please take a few minutes and look at what they have all collectively done since 2005. The depth of the community service and charitable support is truly staggering.

Wisconsin Golf Outing

What a success!  Our first annual charity golf outing, Together We Can Make a Difference.  We had an incredible day with 56 golfers and 78 degree weather.  We couldn’t have asked for a better day to have a charity golf outing.

You can’t always put into words what you experience but I believe these two situations sum up the heart of the golf outing.

1.       Unknown to those running the outing, Mike Grau from PCI Construction bought Ben and Ron Tagtow $20 of 50/50 raffle tickets, so that they had a chance at winning the money. Their number didn’t get chosen but then….

2.       Rob Gudates, from Philadelphia Insurance who won the 50/50 raffle, (which was $500) gave his winning portion back to the family.  The crowd erupted, applauding his generosity.

This year’s recipients of the Charity Golf Outing went to a family from Robertson Ryan & Associates; Pete, Shelly, Ron and Ben Tagtow.  Shelly has worked at Robertson Ryan for 13 years and just recently found out both Ron and Ben has type-1 childhood diabetes.  Your donations will allow us to give the family $1,500, to help to ease the stress of medical bills.

The Wisconsin Home Nest wants to extend a heart-felt thank you for your commitment to making this event so successful and we hope you will be able to support us again next year.
